Kabisko "Bisko" Kaba is originally from Guinea, West Africa and has more than 30 years of professional dance experience. "Bisko," as he is affectionately called by his friends and students, came to the US in 1998 with the world renowned dance company Les Merveille de Guinea. The company had its debut in New York and toured throughout the US for over 5 years. In 2000, Bisko began a 5-year residency with the prestigious Lincoln Center in NY, where he taught students about Guinean art and culture, and performed in many venues. During this time Bisko also taught in numerous schools and community centers, thrilling audiences with his boundless energy and skillful dancing, acting, drumming and singing. In 2005, Bisko was a resident performing artist at Disney World, where he performed daily for patrons. In 2007 Bisko relocated to western MA and was a teaching artist for the University of Massachusetts, Smith College, Mt. Holyoke College, and Hampshire College. Presently, Bisko teaches at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter School in western MA. Bisko offers periodic drum and dance classes and choreographs dance and drum performance pieces for companies throughout the US. As an artist, Bisko is well known for his passion and demonstrated commitment to excellence in his teaching, choreography and storytelling. Bisko directs the dance and drum ensemble, Wofa Dance and Drum Company, based at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts charter school in South Hadley, MA. The ensemble is a source of inspiration for PVPA students to learn about the rich culture and heritage of Guinea, West Africa.
