Come dance and drum with us to uplift your spirits! African dance and drumming brings people together in happiness, for rejuvenation, health and community. Release stress and get into to the rhythms...Ammaya Dance & Drum offers performances, school assemblies, drum circles and workshops in traditional West African dance and drumming throughout the New England area. We dance and play for the love of African cultures and joy and healing of its art forms. Our events are for all levels of experience, background, age or ability. Come share the joy!


Join us for an upcoming special event! Ammaya Dance & Drum is presenting a fusion of African, Latin and funk music in VT. This will be an evening to remember!

Ammaya Dance & Drum is led by master drummer Issa Coulibaly of Mali, West Africa; and Tara Murphy, longtime dancer of mixed African-American heritage. Through their love of the cultures and art forms of West Africa, Issa and Tara, and their fellow dancers and drummers have shared the joy of dance and drumming throughout New England. Ammaya Dance & Drum gives regular performances, drum circles and workshops throughout the year. Through their African dance and drum events for all ages and abilities, they share the healing and upliftment of these art forms, as well as education about African culture and the diaspora.

Performances


Ammaya Dance & Drum is an ensemble of professional dancers and drummers that gives Performances of traditional West African and African diaspora dance and drumming. The troupe includes master West African artists, as well as a diverse group of professional artists with a variety of dance and music backgrounds. The ensemble performs at concerts, school assemblies, festivals, parties, weddings and more. The ensemble performs to uplift the hearts of their audiences, playing for the joy and healing inherent in African traditions.

Drum Circles


Ammaya Dance & Drum gives lively Drum Circles for team building at companies and organizations. We also offer therapeutic dance 0and drumming for people with disabilities and seniors,  We give African-inspired dance and drum circles for children of all ages as well. It is a great time to release energy, lift spirits, connect with others, have fun, and get healthy exercise. Music and movement is the medicine to inspire positive energy and health.
